Our Fun Day in Seattle

On Wednesday, my mom and I took the kids to Seattle for the day. We left right after breakfast and spent the ENTIRE day in down town. We got those Seattle City Passes and had a blast being tourists in our own City :) We started the day off at the Seattle Aquarium. Here is Ava watching the lady feed some of the sea animals.
The kids got a kick out of touching the sea stars and other sea creatures!
Miss Ava on a rock throne :)
Look mom, it's Nemo. My kids always get excited to see fish that look like Dori and Nemo :)
Looking into the Pacific Ocean tank
Carter fascinated with the fish! There were glass windows from on the ceiling and all the way to the floor, which made it very easy for him to see all the fish.
Carter's favorite animal is the otter. I don't know what it is about them, but the 3 times he's seen them at the zoo he cracks up laughing and claps for them. Today was no different...he got the biggest grin on his face when he saw them. Those otters sure are entertaining.
The kids out on the pier
This was the kids first time going to the Seattle Aquarium and they loved it!
The aquarium is on the pier and is surrounded by water.
Only picture of me with my 3 kids... outside the aquarium by the fountain.
We ate lunch on the waterfront. My mom, Cristian, and I had fish and chips, and Ava had Chicken nuggets and chips.
After lunch we went on an Argosy cruise. Here is the boat we went on.
Leaving the pier
The Space Needle and Seattle beaches
Seattle Sky Line

Ava checking out the water
Carter and Nannie
Cristian checking out the water
Our Professional Sports Stadiums... the one on the left is home to the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders FC, and the one on the right is home to the Seattle Mariners.
The Coast Guard
Port of Seattle
The brick building is Starbucks' Headquarters.
That building up on the hill in between the stadiums is where they shoot the outdoor hospital scenes from Grey's Anatomy. (the building used to be a hospital, but now is Amazon.com 's headquarters)
The Olympic Mountain Range (kind of a hazy day to get a great shot of them... but in the winter they're beautiful all capped with snow!) You can see a ferry boat in the picture too... I learned that we have the 2nd largest ferry system in the entire world. There are a lot of islands around here!
Star wars fans... can you spot the R2 D2 building?
The tallest sky scraper in Seattle... The Columbia Tower
The kids watching as we approach the pier again
Carter, one the main level of the boat, watching out the window

Perfect way to cool off on a 90+ degree day
Yummmy!!
When you eat here, you literally get a Pot full of Crab, a crab cracker, and a Bib and just have at it.
I'm not sure why tourists line up to get their pictures taken by this wood carving outside the restaurant... but since we were tourists for the day... WHY NOT?!?!
Pike's Place Market
Next stop... the Science Center
Playing in the little fountain
Cristian and Ava flying a space ship
The water exhibit
Another touch pond
I guess that's always a good sign that the first thing she did when entering this car was buckle herself up
They had a speed pitch tracker that was really fun! I'm telling you... Cristian may have a chance at having a career as a pitcher... he hit the bulls eye EVERYTIME, and I could only throw the ball 5 mph faster then him. What an arm!!
Rock climbing
More rock climbing
Trying to keep the beach ball up with the air machine
Carter playing with the water ball
He loves water

They also have a butterfly exhibit at the Science Center... I thought this guy was really pretty
The kids watching the butterflys
Carter watching
Another pretty one
Love the blue colored ones

The Space Needle
It was so hot out, that we thought the kids would have fun running around in the fountain
Ava let the mist cool her off...
but Cristian went right in...
Only in Seattle do you find garbage cans that look like this :) We love our lattes!
We went up to the top of the Space Needle, and here's Nannie showing the kids where Husky Stadium is! 2 weeks from today we'll be at our first game... we're all getting SOOO excited for football season.
Only picture of all 5 of us... at the top of the Space Needle
Next we rode the Monorail to Westlake Center
And had dinner at PF Changs
The Chop Sticks were very entertaining
Note the outfit change... Cristian was still soaking wet, and there just so happened to be a Children's place at the mall... so him and I went and picked out a new outfit while we were waiting for our food to arrive.
Back on the monorail... front row seats! Thought it was funny the kids put their arms up in the air as if they were on a ride at disneyland :)
Carter getting sleepy... it was 8:00 by this point
Space Needle
Nannie with the kids by the pretty flowers
EMP changes colors, and with the sun setting it looked really pretty
It looked like this part of the building was florescent pink
On our way back to the car... we decided to let the kids put Cristian's wet clothes on and play in the fountain again. This way they could get as wet as they wanted and have dry clothes for the ride home. It was still over 80 degrees out, so it didn't feel cold at all.
Ava wearing C's shirt
shirtless Cristian
Having fun
Standing right in the water :) If you click on this picture, you'll get a kick out of his face :)
Ava, after a couple of minutes, decided it might be fun to get SOAKED too.
Good Night Seattle!

We had such a fun "daycation"... Cristian even commented "This was another best day of my life" I think we're going to make this trip a yearly tradition and take the kids every year right before school starts.

How fun! I've never thought of getting a city pass before. We're big Steamers fans and always take our out-of-town guests there for the Seattle lunch experience. Don't you just love Seattle?!

Jon actually worked a few days in the "R2D2" building when they had some WaMu employees there. They called it the "Ban Roll-on Building."

Have I ever told you that Caleb has a massive fear of the Space Needle falling down? I'll be sure not to show him your pictures on this post. They're awesome pics but they really make it look like it's falling. :)
